GOING TO SCHOOL IN INDONESIA

Students wear a uniform when they go to school in Indonesia. The most common uniform for elementary school students are white shirt and red shorts (for boys) or red skirts (for girls).

There are about 30-40 students in one classroom.  Students sit nicely and quietly in rows facing the
blackboard. The teacher's desk is near the blackboard.

Many schools start at around 7 o'clock, and finish at 12 or 1 pm. Most students go to school six mornings in a week.

There are a lot of subjects that students have to learn at an Indonesian schools, such as: math, language arts, social studies, natural science, civics education, physical education, art, religion, and local ethnic culture. English is a required subject starting 4th grade until the first year in college.

In the afternoon, sometimes students attend courses, such as English, math, or computer. If not, they will play with their friends or neighbours. Some of the most popular games are playing soccer, playing badminton, the rubber band rope game, or hide-and-seek.

Sometimes Indonesian kids just stay home and watch television. They also have to do their homework in the afternoon or in the evening. Students have to study hard because they have a lot of homework and a lot of exams in school.
